The Honest Answer

All the reasons that we don’t do things…

Not enough time.
Not enough money.
I don’t have the energy.
We don’t have the space…

It\’s all bullshit.

There are only two reasons why we don’t do the things we talk about doing:

1) We don’t really want to.

We make the resources available for the things that we really want to do. There\’s money to eat garbage, time to watch TV, energy to spend the entire evening commute home in a rage, and enough space to completely separate yourself from your family and stare at a screen in your home.

The problem is that it’s not OK to say that we don’t want to. It’s not OK to say that I would rather eat like shit, live like a slug, spend my spare time staring at the box, or find a buffet and die of hypertension, heart disease, and diabetes because less is required of me if I just do that.

That is the HONEST answer.

Even if you cannot be honest with yourself about it, that is the honest answer.

So let’s stop pretending that these excuses are real, or even make sense in light of the havoc that your lifestyle wreaks on your body, and, eventually, the people who are going to have to bury it.

2) You are afraid.

Afraid of trying. Afraid of the exertion required. Afraid of looking stupid. Afraid of doing it wrong. Afraid of what people will say. Afraid of failure. Afraid of getting hurt. Afraid of getting lost. Afraid of how you will look in the pictures. Afraid it will be too hard.

There is nothing wrong with either of these things as long as you are honest with yourself about it.

Either embrace the fact that you really don’t want to do the things that you talk about doing, or that you are afraid to try, but stop making excuses.

Better still, decide that you are never going to say “One of these days…” ever again.

Make a change.

Stop talking about the person you want to become and do something about it.
